Contractors participating in the QA New Homes Program are eligible to install systems in new home construction projects that intend to apply for the ENERGY STAR label. The program supports ENERGY STAR efforts related to the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for newly constructed Certified Homes (v3.0). This only made sense, since ACCA is the author of the ANSI-approved standards for Quality Installation and Verification Protocols on which utilities, regulators, code officials, and contractors rely for quality assurance.
Because ACCA is an organization of contractors who believe in the highest ethical standards, the QA Program was developed to be a rigorous program. Builders and regulators can rest assured that participants in the ACCA QA program are the most likely contractors to complete an actual quality installation.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) system in the U.S. extends across the nation; coast-to-coast, and in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Since the founding of the first BBB in 1912, the BBB system has proven that the majority of marketplace problems can be solved fairly through the use of voluntary self-regulation and consumer education.
The Building Performance Institute is the nation’s premier credentialing, quality assurance and standards setting organization for home performance professionals. Since 1993, BPI has been setting technical standards for home energy auditing and energy efficiency upgrades. We develop BPI Standards using an open, consensus-based process built on sound building science. From these standards, we develop rigorous written and field exams leading to professional certifications for individuals, companywide credentials for BPI GoldStar Contractors and quality assurance services that help raise the bar in home performance contracting.
BPI certified professionals hold over 23,000 active certifications across the nation and in three foreign countries. More than 120 state, local and utility energy efficiency programs specify BPI credentials for participating contractors, to ensure quality.
